Residents urge Anna to fund school crossing guards after near-miss at Leonard and Sharp

Dingle cited Texas Local Government Code 343.014 to say the city has authority to determine where crossing guards are needed and to provide or contract for personnel.
Rochelle Saclay, who said her son was struck by a driver at Leonard and Sharp three weeks ago, described continuing driver inattention and growing neighborhood traffic as apartments and redistricting increase student counts. "This has become such a huge problem for us here in Anna," she said, and urged a coordinated response from Anna ISD, the police department and the city.
Council members did not take immediate action at the meeting but heard requests for staff to engage the school district, explore funding and present options for paid crossing guards and volunteer coordination.
