The finance committee reviewed a recommendation from the Amherst Community Improvement Corporation on a municipal cell-tower lease located at 545 Gordon Avenue. The CIC recommended taking the one-time lump-sum option that the vendor raised to approximately $520,000 rather than renewing a reduced monthly lease.
The mayor said the CIC and law director reviewed options and recommended a lump-sum payment; that option would produce a quick closing dependent on title and attorneys. A motion to send ordinance 26-26 to the floor with an emergency clause passed 6–0 in committee. The mayor added that closing timing depends on title work and that the city could expect a 45–60 day window to close after signatures.
