The Jackson County Board of Supervisors voted to approve an Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) TSIP funding agreement for a realignment portion of 395th Avenue as part of the HERL project. Secondary Roads staff recommended accepting a grant for up to $445,000 and authorizing the board chair and auditor's signatures on the agreement; the motion passed unanimously.
Jayden, speaking for Secondary Roads, outlined timing and contingencies: "Right now, we're on track for a January '27 letting with construction to follow that summer," Jayden said, and noted the project will require archaeological studies and may be delayed by right-of-way negotiations. The county emphasized that the agreement covers only the county's portion of the DOT-funded work and is separate from unrelated Highway 52 work. Supervisors asked questions about access and plans to limit disruption for nearby businesses during construction.
