The engineering committee recommended three professional engineering service awards totaling about $15.1 million for design work across the system, including bridge replacement design and work on a western extension of Illinois Route 390.
The chief engineering officer said Avna Engineering was recommended for on‑call systemwide design services at $3,000,000; STV Incorporated was recommended for bridge reconstruction design for the CSX overpass on the Tri‑State Tollway in Thornton Township at $4,442,746; and Michael Baker International was recommended for $7,700,394.63 to design a western extension of Illinois Route 390 and a new interchange at County Farm Road in Hanover Park. Staff noted two of the three contracts are funded through the board‑approved Bridging the Future program and that each firm committed to exceed DVE and veteran goals.
The committee consolidated engineering items and approved items 1–7 as a group, forwarding the recommendations for consideration by the full board.
