David Fisher, vice president of the Brazosport Area Chamber of Commerce, presented the chamber's 2025 tourism report to the City of Clute on June 11 and asked the council for $6,000 to reprint a visitor brochure with corrected hotel information.
Fisher described the chamber's marketing channels and results, saying the organization "promote[s] the whole area as a leisure destination" and that digital and earned media produced about $190,000 in media value over 33 publications and websites. He told the council that visitbrasosport.com had about 94,000 page views last year and that their most shared social post had roughly 90,000 views. "So for your $25,000, we are promoting—we're giving $190,000 worth of advertising," Fisher said, and noted the immediate need to reprint the brochure because a local hotel's name and phone number had changed. "We would like to get that additional funding so that we can get those brochures out," he added.
Council members did not raise substantive objections during the presentation. The request was framed as an additional line-item expenditure to cover a $6,000 reprint cost for the city's allocation toward cooperative marketing materials.
