Staff reports 39 employer visits, workforce partnerships and AI trends ahead of CP Works event

A staff member presenting the business retention and expansion (BRE) work said that between Oct. 1 and April 30 they met with 39 employers, and that engagement has been strongest in life sciences, energy and advanced manufacturing. The presenter said 83% of employers met were in the 1–100 employee range, 7% in the 101–300 range, and 10% had more than 301 employees; she also said employers reported a largely positive near‑term outlook and that AI so far appears to be changing how work is completed more than reducing headcount.
"Within that period of time, I've met with 39 employers," the staff member said. She outlined partnership activity — including ACC and LISD collaborations, teacher externships, and a CP Works event that will seat employer attendees by industry cluster — and emphasized workforce development and digital literacy as priorities to help employers adapt to AI and automation.
