After large parties at Frog Island, YPD posts signage and increases patrols

Commissioners asked about a recent large gathering at Frog Island that the chief described as resembling a street takeover at a park and said the department had taken immediate steps to deter future events. "The signage has been changed... as of yesterday at about 12PM, the signage was up," Chief Anderson said, adding that officers would step up directed patrols in the area and partner with the sheriff’s office and EMU as needed.
Staff said the signs clarify hours and restrictions for the area and that employees who work nearby were directed to park elsewhere so enforcement can distinguish attendees from employees. The department described the response as a mix of signage, increased night patrol presence, and working with county and university partners to address gatherings that exceed local enforcement capacity.
