Ming Yang, the applicant identified on the agenda, described the concept at the microphone: “We sell the, we do have, all you can eat sushi… the food is floating like, besides you,” and told council the restaurant plans to open in mid‑July. No one spoke in opposition during the public comment period.
Councilor McCurdy moved to approve the conditional use permit; a second was recorded and the motion passed by unanimous voice vote. City staff will finalize permit paperwork and any remaining administrative conditions before a certificate of occupancy is issued.
The approval allows Eki Sushi to serve alcoholic beverages on site in conjunction with its restaurant operations. The applicant and staff confirmed the business will operate in the Uptown overlay at the address listed on the agenda and that the CUP is specific to on‑premise consumption.
