City staff to recommend denial of 29.28-acre rezoning request after applicant rejects staff conditions

City Manager Valdez told the council that staff will recommend denial of an application to rezone approximately 29.28 acres from LR (county/lower-density) to SF-10 (single-family, 10,000 sq ft lots) and a Planned Development overlay because the applicant informed staff that he does not accept the staff's recommended conditions. "The applicant has since let us know that he is not in line or not in agreement with any of the staff's recommendations," Valdez said as she previewed the public hearing.
Valdez said the Planning and Zoning Commission initially recommended approval only contingent on several staff-recommended items; because the applicant will not accept those contingencies, staff will present a recommendation of denial to council at the public hearing. The applicant indicated he may attend and offer his own presentation for council consideration. The briefing did not include the applicant's presentation or a council decision — the item is scheduled for the public hearing portion of the next council agenda.
