Department leaders briefed the commission on a slate of community-engagement activities for the coming months: multiple summer camps at Lucas Oil with graduations at Brownsburg Fire Territory, Boost summer camp work with Bransford Community School System (officer participation June 15 and July 13), Touch-a-Truck events, Coffee, Donuts & Badges and a blood drive scheduled May 15 in the department courtroom. Assistant Chief encouraged residents to attend and highlighted the events as informal opportunities to meet officers.
On the fundraising side, the department described the annual "Cop on a Rooftop" effort in partnership with Indiana Special Olympics and Dunkin' (May 15, 5 a.m.-noon) to collect donations for Special Olympics. Officers and volunteers will staff donation points; the department framed these efforts as community outreach rather than enforcement.
