The Town of Brownsburg Police Commission on May 12 approved removal of probationary status for two officers and accepted a retirement notice from Assistant Chief Andrew Watts, effective June 26, 2026. Commissioner Tim Cooper read the chiefs letter recommending Nathaniel Giblin and Austin Hyde be confirmed as first-class officers; the motion to accept the removals passed by voice vote.
Commissioner Simpson read Assistant Chief Andrew Wattss retirement letter. Commissioners offered short tributes and the commission voted to accept the retirement. Commissioner Simpson read, "Please accept this letter as official notice of my decision to retire" and commissioners then moved and seconded the acceptance; the motion carried. The meeting also included routine packet reports from support services and operations and an external commendation from IMPD for Brownsburg officers.
