Benbrook awards $135,890 design contract for Plantation West Creek outfall repairs

Public Service Director Bennett Howell presented engineering findings and a scope of work for the Plantation West Creek Outfall project, saying severe erosion at the outfall requires construction of a concrete headwall, a flume and riprap slopes and that drainage easements will be needed. Howell recommended awarding a design contract to Fries and Nichols for $135,890.
Howell estimated design would take about three months and bidding and construction roughly six months. Councilmember Franklin moved to approve the design contract "as presented" for $135,890; a second was recorded and the council voted to approve the contract. A nearby resident thanked staff for addressing the long-standing erosion issue.
