The board unanimously approved a requested charter amendment for UCP East (doing business as UCP Bales Early Childhood Academy) to expand operations to include kindergarten through second grade for exceptional student education students.
School Choice Services staff reviewed the school’s modified application for curriculum, ESE procedures, English‑learner procedures, student performance goals, staffing and budget, and recommended approval to meet statutory requirements. Dr. Kia Scott presented the recommendation and explained the oversight and statutory checks that informed the review; the board voted to approve the contract modification without dissent.
Board members thanked staff and the charter office for the review work and recorded the approval in the July 28 minutes. Staff said they will finalize the contract amendment with implementation details.
