The Bellbrook City Council voted to place a 1.3-mill renewal levy on the Nov. 3, 2026 ballot after a public hearing with no speakers.
City Manager Rob Schomer explained the ordinance (citing Ohio Revised Code 5705.19) and clarified that the measure is a renewal of an existing levy, not a new tax. Schomer said the 1.3 mills "generates about $235,000 to go towards the city budget," and that the revenue is typically allocated to capital maintenance such as stormwater, water and interior streets as well as general operations.
Council members reiterated that rollbacks and homestead credits will remain in place and that the renewal is consistent with past ballot measures. With no public comment during the hearing, the council moved to adopt Ordinance 2026-O-06 and recorded a roll-call vote in favor; the ordinance will be submitted to the Board of Elections for inclusion on the Nov. 3 ballot.
The council did not specify campaign plans; council discussion focused on clarifying that the levy is a renewal and on the importance of the revenue to capital improvements.
