EDC staff delivered a manager's report summarizing April activity and local economic indicators, telling the board: “Overall sales tax for the month of February was up 13% from the previous year.” The presentation highlighted a downtown planning process (described as a charrette) conducted with community input and noted EDC participation alongside the city and Anna ISD in a first-ever Anna 2026 update event.
The manager also reviewed outreach and event activity, saying the EDC held 10 real-estate and developer meetings, made 25 business-retention and expansion contacts, and held four predevelopment meetings. Staff noted recent communications metrics — 22 new newsletter subscribers, 17 new LinkedIn followers and 12 new Instagram followers — and encouraged continued local business support during National Small Business Week.
