The Amarillo Planning and Zoning Commission completed its regular July 6 meeting after approving minutes from June 15, two plats (Quail Creek Unit 41 and PCWC Enterprises Unit 3), and two variances for the Caprock Landing preliminary plan. The commission also voted to recommend rezoning Lot 2 Block 1 Village Unit 2 with a specific-use permit to allow a batching plant; the rezoning generated multiple public comments and will move to City Council where a different voting threshold applies because a property owner met the 20% protest requirement.
Planning staff Brady handled staff presentations and answered commissioner questions on access, utilities, drainage and regulatory requirements. For the rezoning case staff emphasized that an operational permit from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality and an approved drainage report will be required before any plant could operate. The meeting adjourned at 3:46 p.m.
