Andrew Cook, water utilities program manager, presented the City of Amarillo's Every Drop Counts student-art contest winners and unveiled the 2027 calendar at the June 23 council meeting. "This program isn't just about art, it's about inspiring awareness and action around one of our most critical resources, water," Cook said, noting the contest drew about 240 entries this year and that the utility department arranged displays to enable staff voting.
Cook thanked sponsors including Amarillo Independent School District and a long list of local businesses and nonprofits and announced the grand-prize gift card: "we also had an incredibly generous anonymous donor this year that contributed the grand prize, 1,000 dollar gift card for the contestant who secured their spot on the calendar cover." He named the monthly winners and said the calendars would be available in August at utility billing, city hall and library locations. The presentation emphasized youth engagement and local sponsorship; Cook said the contest had expanded to separate brackets for elementary, middle and high school students.
