Parks staff outline costs of prefabricated restrooms and plan to add cameras

Leslie Andrews said the department has been purchasing prefabricated 'drop‑in' restroom units for several years because they are more durable and easier to maintain than older onsite structures. "A typical one that we purchase is anywhere between 160 and and $200,000 and then you add in about another 50,000 for the ground leveling the base plumbing, electrical," Andrews said.
Andrews added that many parks currently lack security cameras and that the department is adding cameras to new amenities to deter vandalism. Board members expressed support for adding cameras and for prioritizing replacement of the oldest restroom facilities first.
