Purcellville staff asked council July 28 to authorize a Loudoun County CIP funding application of $1,138,500 to upgrade the Valley Industrial Park (VIP) pump station.
The upgrades — including electrical and controls work, flow metering, variable-frequency drives, valve replacements and pump replacements — were identified after evaluating options for connecting the planned Western Loudoun rec center. Staff described the connection as a county decision but said the pump station will ultimately need upgrades regardless; council approved Resolution 26-07-06 to seek county funding and authorized the town manager or designee to execute the application and related agreements.
Council members discussed likely timelines (staff estimated two to 2.5 years for completion if funded) and the potential that county confirmation could influence the county to build connection infrastructure during its initial construction.
