Council approves joint resolution to place 1% specific-purpose excise tax on Park County ballot

Tony Tolstedt presented Resolution 2026-08, a joint resolution to impose a 1% specific-purpose excise tax in Park County and place the proposition on the Nov. 3, 2026 general election ballot. Tolstedt said the language reflected coordination with Park County and the shared attorney and that Powell approved the joint resolution unanimously the previous night. "Powell passed this joint resolution last night," Tolstedt said, noting attorneys had reviewed the language and that defined statutory language about a 'trickle in' effect had been clarified.
Council moved and approved adopting the resolution to place the question on the ballot. Tolstedt said amounts and funding targets in the resolution remained the same as previously discussed; no substantive public comment was recorded during the meeting on this item.
