City staff introduced Ryan Brown to describe the annual "Celebrities for a Cause" fundraiser and to request permission to close three gyms at the Rec Center and hold the group's banquet on Aug. 7, 2026. Staff noted the event includes alcohol service, which is why council approval was required.
Ryan described logistics and said, "This year, all proceeds benefit Park County law enforcement," listing Cody Police, Powell Police, the Sheriff's Department and the Highway Patrol as beneficiaries. Council asked about interactions with youth programs and event setup times; staff confirmed the kids programs would be finished before the event and gyms would be closed for the day. The motion to approve was moved by Council Member Shreve and seconded by Council Member Tamplin; the council voted in favor and the motion carried.
Staff and the organizer exchanged contact information and a website for tickets was provided. No conditions were added in the meeting discussion beyond standard permitting and facility coordination handled by staff.
