Resident praise and staffing updates highlight public safety agenda

During citizen comment, resident Steve Temple of Sheffield Drive praised the police for a rapid response to a suspicious situation and said officers’ quick action helped keep the neighborhood safe. "They got there in minutes," Temple said, thanking the department for their response.
Later in the meeting the public safety report noted the department is hiring three part-time firefighters and one full-time firefighter/lieutenant; if hires complete successfully the department will be fully staffed for the first time in a while. Police reported three openings and two candidates in process. Council members expressed appreciation for the departments’ staffing progress and thanked staff for the update.
