Council authorizes feasibility steps for sewer extension to Northwood and Creek By The Woods

Staff requested and received council approval to continue feasibility and design work for sewer extensions to two unincorporated neighborhoods (Northwood and Creek By The Woods). Kathy Dillon, presenting the item, described a funding structure in which the Indiana Finance Authority would provide a $20,000 grant per property that connects and the town would collect approximately $15,000 per property from owners as their share of the project.
Dillon said the lots in the neighborhoods are too small for replacement septic systems, that capacity existed to serve the areas, and that voluntary annexation documentation would be used to bring properties into the town prior to connection. Council members asked whether residents were willing to pay and whether annexation would be required; Dillon said signatures and prior outreach indicate many property owners have agreed to proceed. The council moved to approve continued work on the design and feasibility steps to determine financial viability.
