The Forney City Commission approved a conditional use permit by voice vote for a cigar lounge proposed at 101 East U.S. Highway 80. No public comments were reported.
Applicant Daniel Funderburk told the commission the venue will primarily sell pre-rolled cigars and said a cigar roller might be invited for special events but would not be posted permanently. On patio plans, he described a 12-by-35-foot area with roll-down screens to allow year-round use and said the parking lot will remain gravel but be better defined and regularly maintained. Funderburk said the planned patio will be at most a four-inch elevation from existing grade to avoid issues with the roof overhang.
After questions about operations, patio screening and parking, a motion to approve carried on a voice vote. Staff will continue to require any site-plan or building permits necessary for the proposed improvements.
