The Forney City Commission approved a conditional use permit on a voice vote to allow an expansion of Forney Tire at 200 West Broad Street to add three vehicle service bays and roughly 1,000 square feet of building space. Staff said a detailed site plan must be approved before construction begins and that no public comments were received.
The applicant, Monica Stacy, answered commissioners' operational questions and said the business would continue to operate in the existing space during the addition. Stacy said, “We don't keep any cars overnight,” in response to a question about overnight parking, and added that the existing fence will be replaced with a new wood fence to improve screening. Commissioners also confirmed the parking area will be paved rather than left as gravel.
A motion to approve the CUP was made and seconded; the commission voted by voice and the motion carried. Staff noted the new construction will be consistent with the existing building and that the final site plan will be reviewed for compliance prior to construction.
