The City of DeSoto Building and Standards Commission voted on May 21, 2026, to declare the structure at 301 East Wintergreen Road substandard and ordered demolition of all structures on the 1.389-acre lot within 30 days. Andrew Lipscomb, the city building official, told the commission he had conducted three inspections and that "it has continued to deteriorate. It still is in a substandard state," citing large holes in the roof, boarded and broken windows, graffiti, and debris.
The written order directs the owner or any subsequent purchaser to obtain demolition permits, remove all structures and debris within 30 days, and immediately secure the property to prevent unauthorized access. If the owner fails to act, the order authorizes the city to secure utilities and demolish the structures and to charge all costs to the property as a lien. The commission approved the findings and order by voice vote; no opposing votes were announced during the session.
