Finance Director Lakita Sutton presented the City of DeSoto’s April 2026 financial report, saying the general fund had budgeted revenue of $69,800,000 and year‑to‑date actuals of $55,900,000 — about 80.1% of budget. "We are 7 months into the fiscal year, so about 58.8% into the fiscal year at this time," Sutton told the council, noting a year‑over‑year rise in revenue pacing compared with the previous year.
Sutton reported general fund expenditures at roughly 55.2% of budget and described several drivers: non‑departmental costs are higher (67.7%) because of final pay benefits and professional services, including search firms for executive roles. She said the public utility fund was at $18.4 million in revenue (52.9% of its $34.7 million budget), with water and sewer sales expected to increase during summer, and that the sanitation fund had received $4.5 million of a $7.9 million budget (57.6%).
On ancillary enterprise results, Sutton reviewed the golf club’s calendar‑year financials through March 2026 and said the budget shows a planned revenue over expenditures of $54,911; year‑to‑date actuals showed a $45,492 shortfall that staff expects to recover in summer months. She closed by directing council members to written fund reports and the property tax collections summary included with the packet.
