Philip Bowman, staff presenting the contract, said the previous agreement had a tipping fee of $65 per ton and the proposed contract raises that to $71.22 per ton, an increase Bowman described as "approximately 9.6%." Bowman said the FY27 budget anticipates and accounts for this higher cost within the solid-waste fund and that the city attorney’s review is complete, with the agreement ready for the mayor’s signature.
Council moved and approved the agreement by voice vote. Bowman told council the prior agreement expired on 06/30/2026 and that the new four-year arrangement would replace it. Staff said the change in cost was already anticipated during budget development.
