Cody approves ordinance levying full eight mills for FY27; three mills routed to fire district

The City of Cody approved Ordinance 2026-10, levying the full eight mills allowed by state law for the upcoming fiscal year. Staff told council that three of the eight mills are distributed automatically to the local fire district.
"The city levies the full 8 mills allowed by law," Leslie Brumage said during the meeting. Brumage reported the city's expected revenue for the upcoming fiscal year as $1,012,616 and said the estimated valuation increase for the year is 12%. The ordinance passed on its third and final reading after a motion and second from council members.
Council took the vote on the ordinance after staff summarized the levy and revenue estimates. No public objections to the levy were recorded during the public hearing.
