Cedar Park honors Robo Lobos and proclaims Hot Car Awareness Day for Project SafeRide

The council honored two community efforts during opening items. Mayor read a proclamation recognizing the Cedar Park High School Robo Lobos robotics program for consecutive UIL state championships and international competition results. The proclamation noted the team has served more than 75 students and engaged in international STEM outreach, and the mayor invited student leaders and coaches to the podium to accept the recognition.
Coach and student representatives thanked the council. A student participant said the team works year-round and welcomed partnerships with local businesses for sponsorships and community outreach.
Separately, the council proclaimed May 1, 2026, as Hot Car Awareness Day to recognize Project SafeRide, a youth-created initiative aimed at preventing heat-related fatalities among children. Saili Raja, the project's founder, told the council she launched the initiative in June 2025 and has expanded outreach through an app, social media campaigns and local events. "The goal is 0 — 0 hot car deaths, 0 forgotten children, and 0 preventable tragedies," Raja said.
Council members commended the students and the youth advocate, encouraging staff to coordinate future PSA and education opportunities with Project SafeRide and the school district.
