The Benbrook Economic Development Corporation board on June 15 approved a proposed FY 2026–27 budget totaling $757,318 and recommended the City Council ratify the plan.
During a staff presentation, Director Ms. James said, "The total proposed fiscal year budget totals $757,318," and explained that administrative operating expenses remain subject to the city's budget process while the EDC board approves projects and project funding. Staff highlighted increases in insurance, membership dues and training costs as drivers of administrative budget growth.
The budget package submitted to the board included $215,100 in projects, a $25,000 line for Benbrook Boulevard beautification, and a recommended capital outlay. Ms. James told the board the improvement grant program is proposed at $100,000 for the coming year and that about $65,789 had been used year-to-date.
President Kent Williams opened a public hearing on the proposed budget; there were no public comments. Ms. Melton moved to approve the budget "as presented and recommend that the Benbrook City Council ratify the budget," Mr. Lindsay seconded, and the board approved the measure. The transcript records the chair stating, "And the budget is passed as written."
