Planning staff leader Wes Morrison announced to the Planning and Zoning Commission that he has given his resignation to the city manager with an official last day of July 24 but that the city manager asked him to remain on as a consultant to finish the zoning rewrite.
Morrison said, "I have given my resignation to the city of, the city manager, and my last day officially with the city is July 24. However, the city manager has asked me to stay on and as from a consultant standpoint and finish this project." He also said Mara Quad, the city engineer who attended the meeting, "will be named acting director of the department" and will lead day-to-day planning application reviews.
Later in the meeting, a speaker identified only as the acting director introduced himself, described his municipal background and invited commissioners to contact him. That person did not give a full name on the record. Commissioners thanked Morrison for his years of service and welcomed the incoming acting leadership as the commission prepares to finalize parts of the zoning rewrite.
