The State Barbers' Health & Sanitation Board approved a plan Dec. 30 to use Manpower, a vendor that maintains a contract with the State of Nevada, to provide HR, payroll and employment services for board personnel. Deputy Attorney General Joseph Ostunio told members Manpower would charge 23% over base salary to cover administrative costs and intended workers' compensation coverage, though the vendor's risk management team had temporarily put generation of agreements on hold.
Ostunio told the board that if Manpower cannot provide workers' compensation, the board may need to purchase coverage directly from the State of Nevada at additional cost while still paying Manpower's administrative fee. The board voted to enter the arrangement and directed staff to monitor Manpower's risk review and report back.
