The council discussed how the taxiway connection would affect site readiness for adjacent research-park parcels. Lee explained that additional infrastructure can reduce lead time to building occupancy but that roads alone do not automatically change a site’s VBRSP tier unless utilities and permitting follow. Council members said improved taxiway access could increase the park’s competitiveness for prospective aerospace tenants.
Because the meeting lacked a quorum, members did not take a formal vote on approving applications or related commitments. Staff said the congressional insertion will proceed through FY2027 budget processes and that the county will continue coordinating with federal representatives and local partners.
