Parks, tourism and library staff presented recent accomplishments and programs that support downtown revitalization, community events and civic engagement.
Staff noted increased facade-grant funding for Main Street, creation of new downtown murals and festival programming (including an upcoming Day of the Dead festival), greater participation in tourism promotion (advertising with Texas Monthly digital guides and travel-show participation) and a schedule of recurring events such as Movies in the Park and popular running events. The parks team reported investment in grounds, new lighting projects at Latoule and Liberty parks and continued work on walking paths and amenity repairs.
Communications and library staff highlighted outreach work: a newly hired public information officer, a 'We Are Bay City' video series, short social-media videos to boost engagement, and library grant/donation receipts exceeding $50,000 to expand databases and programs (including Career Online High School completions and expanded story-time and youth programming). Staff also noted the formation of a youth advisory council with approximately 13 applicants and 11 interviews planned.
Council praised the outreach and event-driven approach, and staff said materials and marketing assets will be made available to the public.
