Police Chief Mark Leitner introduced a group of new hires to the Huber Heights City Council on March 23, saying the city is strengthening its communications and patrol teams. “This is the first time this year that we'll introduce last year's employees,” Leitner said as he listed new dispatchers and officers and their start dates.
Leitner gave brief backgrounds for each staff member, naming Michonne Minifield (dispatching career began 02/24/2025), Carly Gapske (11/03/2025), Paige Gearhart (12/08/2025), Ahmed Mamadaw (01/27/2025), Curtis Hensley (04/29/2025), Tatiana Polking (07/21/2025), and Zach Stapleton (03/03/2025). He described their prior public-safety experience and training, and highlighted language and technical skills that will aid the division’s work.
Council members responded with gratitude and welcome. One council member said the hires reflect the community’s diversity, noting it is “a great representation” for community policing. Mayor Jeff Gore and others thanked the new staff for their service and encouraged continued public-safety recruitment.
