Town outlines School Street improvements, construction timing and contacts

The Town of Exeter Public Works presented final designs and a construction timeline for the School Street area improvement project and named Jamco Excavators as the contractor. Public Works Director Steve Kron opened the meeting and said the purpose was to prepare residents for construction and explain how the town will communicate with the neighborhood.
Whitney Bouchard, senior project engineer with Steam Engineers, said bids were received in May 2026 and the project was awarded in June 2026. "Construction starting... August is when they plan to begin, and they're thinking about middle of the month," she said, and added the team anticipates a "fall 2027 completion date." Bouchard also noted a typical winter shutdown: "The town says November 15 is a hard deadline to stop work for the year, then they'll pick back up again. April 1 is the soonest typically they're allowed to start again. That's all weather dependent."
