DeSoto accepts completion of Phase 1A water and sewer replacement — project closed under budget

Staff presented the final report for the 2023 R&R water and sewer improvements Phase 1A, which replaced failing water and sanitary sewer lines using trenchless methods across four residential streets. The original bid was about $2,098,000 with contingency leaving a $2.3M allocation; the final payment totaled roughly $2.23M, leaving approximately $78,000 to return to the parent account for future utility POSECs.
The project was completed 12 days earlier than the contract allowed and staff said they will close the project account by the end of the month. Council praised the delivery and the cost savings and voted unanimously to accept completion and authorize final project closeout.
