The council opened and closed a public hearing and approved first- and second-reading action on an ordinance to annex 6519 E US Highway 136 into the Town of Brownsburg. Staff indicated the annexation is voluntary and tied to a planned police and street facility; the development plan will be returned for additional detail as the project proceeds.
Council also adopted resolution 2026-66, the ordinance’s required fiscal plan, which staff said meets state statutory requirements. The fiscal plan will be entered into the record as part of the annexation process and will guide the town’s budget analysis for any service or capital impacts associated with the property’s transfer into municipal boundaries.
There was no public comment on the annexation during the hearing. Council approved moving the ordinance forward on first and second reading by voice vote and adopted the fiscal plan by similar voice vote.
