Brownsburg approves $1.67M resurfacing contract and $113K pedestrian safety upgrades

The Town of Brownsburg approved two capital bids at the April 23 meeting: a $1,671,916.25 contract with Howard Companies to resurface approximately five miles of roadway and construct 61 ADA ramps under the Community Crossings grant, and a $113,159 contract with Morphy Construction to add three flashing beacons at designated school walking routes.
Staff reported receiving seven bids for the resurfacing project; the engineer’s estimate had been just under $2 million and bids ranged from about $1.7 million to $2.8 million. "We received 7 bids for resurfacing… we’re gonna do 5 miles of road and 61 ADA ramps," the town engineer said while recommending award to Howard Companies. Council approved both contracts by voice vote.
Council members noted the projects leverage grant funding to extend local dollars and emphasized pedestrian safety near schools as a priority. The pedestrian crossing work will install flashing beacons coordinated with school schedules and is intended to improve right-of-way compliance for pedestrians on established walking routes.
