Resident urges Harris County to fast-track bond-funded drainage work after repeated flooding

During public comment on May 20, a Precinct 2 resident, Dana Jones, asked the court to accelerate drainage repairs funded by bond proceeds that she said were awarded in 2018 but have not been completed. Jones said she moved into her home three months ago and continues to experience flooding and asserted the county already has the money allocated for the projects.
"Sitting and letting the money sit around and now saying that you don't have enough … Citizens are suffering," Jones said, asking county leaders to check project lists and ensure her neighborhood’s project is not stalled. Court staff said they would follow up and confirm whether her project was among those paused and would have someone from County staff reach out to her to provide clarity.
