The Forney City Council approved an ordinance amending the city's noise and construction regulations to set specific hours for construction activities. City staff explained commercial construction will be allowed from 7 a.m. until sunset Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. until sunset on Saturdays; residential construction would be allowed from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, with Sundays and federal holidays prohibited. The ordinance also clarifies that delivery of goods and materials is considered a construction activity and therefore subject to the new hours.
Mr. Morgan described the rationale for using “sunset” as a fixed end time for commercial activity and noted exceptions would be possible only with advanced, written approval from the city manager or a designee. On enforcement, staff said violations would be handled as standard municipal citations and that fine amounts are set by the judge. “The delivery of goods and materials is considered a construction activity,” Morgan said when outlining the ordinance’s scope. The council then voted to adopt the ordinance, which would be assigned Ordinance No. 2026-19.
