Council certifies runoff and swears in Sarah Salgado for Place 4

The Forney City Council voted to accept the unofficial returns of the June 13, 2026 runoff for Councilmember Place 4, and certified Sarah Salgado as the winner. An elections official read the totals: “Joseph Yaz received 547 votes. Sarah Salgado received 652 votes for a total of 1,199 votes,” after which the council approved a resolution to canvass the returns.
The council presented certification documents and Judge Amy Tarnow administered the oath of office to Salgado, who thanked supporters and pledged to serve the community. “Forney is a place that I love dearly,” Salgado said, adding she looks forward “to putting my focus back on moving the business of the city forward to benefit all the families of Forney.” The council took a five-minute recess after the swearing-in.
