The DeSoto City Council issued proclamations recognizing Municipal Clerks Week (May 3–9, 2026) and National Teacher Appreciation Week during its May 5 meeting. Council member Deborah North presented the clerks proclamation, praising the city secretary’s role in maintaining records and transparency. The mayor signed both proclamations and attested signatures were recorded.
Several honored teachers addressed the council. Olivia Taylor (speaker 20), a Woodridge Elementary math teacher, thanked the council and noted her personal ties to DeSoto ISD. Dasia Porter (speaker 21), a special education case manager, urged residents to “come home” and support DeSoto schools. Other teachers acknowledged the recognition and encouraged community engagement with schools.
