DeSoto ISD officials briefed the DeSoto City Council on district accomplishments during the May 5 meeting. Cleandrea Bryant, communications specialist, outlined academic and extracurricular highlights including a state football championship, superior UIL ratings in band and choir, a national recognition from the National Association of Music Merchants (7th time), 56 students earning associate degrees this year and more than $17,000,000 in scholarships awarded to students.
Interim superintendent Brent S. Mitchell spoke of the district’s momentum and college‑pathway successes, noting that some students are graduating with college credit or associate degrees and highlighting early‑college and dual‑credit programs. Bryant thanked the city for ongoing partnership and said the district will continue expanding STEM initiatives, leadership development and early college pathways.
