The Lakeway Police Foundation offered a $3,500 donation to establish two monthly stipends—one for physical fitness excellence and one for firearms excellence—payable to qualifying officers and accompanied by uniform insignia for recipients. "We have decided to donate ... a 3,500 dollar payment towards what is called the physical fitness excellence stipend and the firearms excellence stipend," the foundation's president said.
Council discussed the foundation's proposed 60-day reporting and accepted a verbal change to a six-month reporting cadence to reduce administrative burden. Council then moved and seconded approval to accept the donation with the revised reporting requirement; the motion passed unanimously. City staff will incorporate the gift into the city's reporting processes and monitor use via the established reporting silo process described by the foundation.
