Council proclaims April 2026 Child Abuse Prevention Month and highlights CASA of Denton County

Mayor Charlotte Wilcox read a proclamation recognizing April 2026 as Child Abuse Prevention Month in Highland Village and commended CASA of Denton County for advocacy on behalf of children removed from unsafe homes. Deborah First, president of CASA’s board, described volunteer advocates’ duties — court reporting, attending hearings and monitoring services — and said CASA represented more than 600 children countywide last year and two children from Highland Village.
CASA requested community volunteers and provided contact information for residents interested in advocacy. The council thanked the organization for its service.
