Two counties jointly select Brosz Engineering for Buffalo Gap Road extension; Forest Service requests trail crossing design allowance

At a March 30 special joint meeting, Billings County and Golden Valley County commissioners heard presentations from two firms bidding to design the Buffalo Gap Road Extension. After questions about permitting, environmental surveys, staffing, schedule, and funding options, both boards voted to accept the Brosz Engineering proposal.
Golden Valley—ommissioner Adam Smith moved to accept Brosz Engineering and Billings County Commissioner Steven Klym moved to accept Brosz as well; both motions carried with all commissioners present voting aye. Misty Hayes of the U.S. Forest Service asked that the engineering team include a design allowance for a Maah Daah Hey Trail crossing at Knutson Creek to address beaver-dam flooding and trail impacts; the boards concurred and directed engineers to evaluate crossing options and include cost allowances in design documents.
