Vernon County Board adopts $32,025 WIC budget increase

The Vernon County Board of Supervisors on Sept. 19 adopted Resolution 2024-43 to amend the 2024 budget after the Wisconsin Department of Health Services allocated additional funds to the county’s Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program.

The resolution accepts $32,025 in added funding, increasing the WIC program’s total 2024 allocation to $176,155. The resolution text states the additional funds are to be added to base salary allocations previously noted at $144,130. The Health Department said the program must comply with Wisconsin Department of Health Services reporting and allocation requirements under the consolidated contract.
Board action was by voice vote with the motion adopted. The amendment was introduced during the resolutions portion of the meeting and follows the Health Department’s earlier presentation on department services and grant funding.
The county’s adoption of the amended allocation allows staff to proceed with internal budget adjustments and required state reporting; no further implementation timeline was specified at the meeting.
