Barnwell County held a public hearing during its March 10 regular meeting on a proposed ordinance to authorize a Fee-in-Lieu of Ad Valorem Taxes (FILOT) and an incentive agreement with Stellar Renewable Power LLC to add new property to the county’s existing multicounty industrial park with Allendale, Bamberg and Hampton counties. Chairman Freddie L. Houston Sr. told the council the measure would authorize related infrastructure credits and requires Council approval to finalize the park addition.
The public hearing drew no comments. Council did not take a final vote during the March 10 meeting; the hearing was recorded to allow citizens to raise concerns or support before any ordinance action. The county clerk was directed to include the matter on future agenda materials as needed.
